Évaluation cognitive et performance physique chez les athlètes professionnels de basketball en fauteuil roulant

Objectif : Évaluer les capacités cognitives, physiques et émotionnelles d’athlètes professionnels de basketball en fauteuil roulant (BFR) de l’équipe nationale masculine brésilienne, comparativement à des personnes sédentaires ne possédant pas de fauteuil roulant. Méthodologie : Il s’agit d’une étude transversale incluant 12 athlètes de BFR (G1) et 13 personnes sédentaires ne possédant pas de fauteuil roulant (G2) constituant le groupe témoin. L’évaluation cognitive a été réalisée à l’aide du logiciel NeuroSports Arena® via des lunettes de réalité virtuelle. Ce logiciel a mesuré le temps de réaction (TR) et le temps de décision (TD), la qualité de la réaction (QR) et la qualité de la décision (QD), l’attention (AT), le contrôle de l’impulsivité (CI) et la vision périphérique (VP). L’évaluation repose sur des tâches de réaction simples et des tâches Go/No-go. De plus, le logiciel a également évalué les facteurs émotionnels et l’humeur, tels que l’humeur, le stress et l’état d’esprit du moment, ainsi que la qualité du sommeil de la nuit précédente. L’évaluation physique a utilisé le test d’accélération sur 20 mètres, le test d’endurance intermittente YoYo 1 et le test de sprint anaérobie en course à pied (RAST). Résultats : Aucune différence statistiquement significative n’a été observée entre les groupes. Cependant, plusieurs corrélations intragroupes ont été observées. Conclusion : Aucune différence statistiquement significative n’a été constatée entre les groupes ; toutefois, au sein du groupe 1, des corrélations ont été observées entre les performances cognitives et physiques, ainsi qu’entre les facteurs émotionnels et les performances cognitives.
