Résumé

La longévité est un phénomène multifactoriel impliquant des aspects physiques, cognitifs et sociaux, directement influencé par la qualité de vie et l'autonomie des personnes âgées. Parmi les facteurs contribuant à ce processus, l'activité physique régulière s'impose comme une stratégie essentielle pour promouvoir la santé et prévenir les effets néfastes du vieillissement. Cette étude visait à examiner le lien entre activité physique régulière et longévité en bonne santé chez les personnes âgées. Une revue narrative de la littérature a été menée entre mars et avril 2025, couvrant les articles publiés entre 2015 et 2025 dans Google Scholar, Capes Journals, Scielo et PubMed, en appliquant des critères d'inclusion et d'exclusion basés sur la période et le type de publication. L'analyse a révélé que l'activité physique procure des bénéfices fonctionnels, cognitifs et émotionnels, favorisant l'autonomie, prévenant les maladies chroniques et réduisant le risque de chutes. Une influence positive sur la santé mentale, le bien-être social et les processus biologiques liés au vieillissement cellulaire, tels que la méthylation de l'ADN, a également été observée. Des effets neuroprotecteurs, notamment sur la mémoire et les fonctions exécutives, ont également été mis en évidence, ainsi que la prévention des symptômes dépressifs. Cependant, les limitations physiques, l'insécurité, les facteurs économiques et le manque d'infrastructures freinent encore l'adhésion des personnes âgées aux programmes d'exercice. L'étude a montré que l'exercice physique améliore les capacités fonctionnelles, réduit les maladies chroniques, les chutes et la fragilité, et favorise une meilleure qualité de vie. L'individualisation des pratiques et des politiques publiques est essentielle pour un vieillissement actif.
