Relation entre les attitudes face au dopage, la passion et la force mentale chez les jeunes athlètes pratiquant des sports individuels

Résumé

Analyser la relation entre les attitudes face au dopage, la passion et la force mentale chez les athlètes de sports individuels. MÉTHODES : 251 athlètes de sports individuels ont participé à l’étude, d’un âge moyen de 18,3 ± 2,9 ans ; les participants évoluaient à différents niveaux de compétition (international, national et régional). Les instruments utilisés étaient l’échelle des attitudes d’amélioration de la performance, l’échelle de la passion et l’échelle de la force mentale. L’analyse des données a été réalisée à l’aide des tests de Shapiro-Wilk, de Mann-Whitney, de Kruskal-Wallis, du coefficient de corrélation de Spearman et de l’analyse de réseau (LASSO). RÉSULTATS : Une différence significative a été observée concernant le temps d’expérience et le nombre d’heures d’entraînement (p < 0,01) entre les hommes et les femmes, ainsi que concernant le nombre d’heures d’entraînement en fonction de la rémunération (p < 0,01). Des corrélations positives significatives (p < 0,01) ont été mises en évidence entre les niveaux de compétition et le nombre d’années d’expérience (r = 0,53) et le nombre d’heures d’entraînement (r = 0,54). La passion obsessionnelle était positivement corrélée (p < 0,01) à la passion harmonieuse (r = 0,30) et à la robustesse mentale (r = 0,30) ; tandis que les attitudes face au dopage présentaient une corrélation inverse significative (p < 0,05) avec la passion harmonieuse (r = -0,16) et la robustesse mentale (r = -0,14). L’analyse de réseau a révélé des corrélations significatives entre les attitudes face au dopage et le statut de rémunération (r = 0,07), la passion harmonieuse (r = -0,07), la robustesse mentale (r = -0,05) et le niveau de compétition (r = -0,01). CONCLUSION : Des niveaux plus élevés de passion harmonieuse et de robustesse mentale pourraient être liés à des attitudes moins favorables au dopage, ou moins permissives quant à son utilisation dans le sport ; par ailleurs, le fait de percevoir un salaire ou une aide financière pour la pratique sportive était positivement corrélé aux attitudes face au dopage, probablement parce que certains athlètes se sentaient davantage contraints d’obtenir de bons résultats afin de préserver leurs revenus.
