CONDIÇÕES DE SANEAMENTO BÁSICO E QUALIDADE DAS ÁGUAS SUBTERRÂNEAS NA BACIA HIDROGRÁFICA DO RIO PARAGUAI, NO ESTADO DE MATO GROSSO DO SUL

Abstract

Considering the strong connection of inadequate basic sanitary conditions with groundwater; it is relevant to verify the quality of these waters, as well as the environmental and health implications they may cause. Thus, the objective of this article is to present data about the groundwater quality of some of the counties of the Paraguay River basin in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul and correlate them with the existing basic sanitary conditions. The study was accomplished using the Hydrographic Territory Units of Planning and Management (UPGs) proposed by the Partial State Report of Hydro Resources (PERH-MS 2008) with the purpose of analyzing data that refer to the basic sanitary conditions of the counties of the Paraguay River hydrographic basin in the state mentioned. The sanitary data was interconnected with the physical/chemical and bacteriological characteristics of the ground water in sixteen of the twenty seven counties of the hydrographic region of the Paraguay River basin obtained by DIAS et all (2006) according to Portaria Health Ministry nº 518/2004 and CONAMA Resolution nº 396/2008. The results show that the index the sanitary sewage assistance of the urban centers of the Paraguay River hydrographic basin are very low and that most of the groundwater in these counties are compromised for human consumption.
