Envelopment Sustainable in Conservation Community

Abstract

This article discusses two levels on the possibility of the participation of society in the Parks Management: the increase of visitors affective ties, with a consequent greater concern about its preservation, and real community participation in the environment around decision-making. The view here is that involvement will be sustainable only through directed and intensive contact with nature, which seems to be a strong agent for changing behaviour in relation to the environment, since motivating elements may be present. In the same way, our protected areas will only be established on what is conventionally called Communities of Conservation. The issue of community participation at all levels is critically discussed, pointing out to the public misunderstanding of the exclusionary policies of the Brazil, with the consequent exclusion of people living around the Parks and all problems arising this strategy. The role of NGOs is also presented in a context of union of forces toward the possible partnerships between civil society and government, in relation to the programmes of natural resource use of protected areas. The enjoy of nature can be a feeling affected by social representations, which stresses the importance of how it will be driven the contact with it, through Park's Public Use Plan, mainly in Environmental Education. It is believed here that, and is projected that the end of Parks could make one think at the end of NGOs too, to the extent that society is able to mobilize and act in the face of issues, agreeing in decision-making, assuming the course of their lives and interests, as real communities of conservation.
