TUMUCUMAQUE MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK IN THE VIEW OF THE RURAL PRODUCERS FROM THE PERIMETRAL SETTLEMENT

The Tumucumaque Mountains National Park, created in 2002, is the bigger conservation unit of integral protection of the country, which corresponds to 26.95% of State of Amapa territory. Its creation was accompanied by questions, related to the real government proposition, and its consequences to the State economy and for the surrounding population. Since 1995 the National Institute of Colonization and Agrarian Reform – State of Amapa created 26 rural settlements, many of them were in surrounding areas of conservation units. In this research was analyzed the point of view of environmental management, from the environmental perception of rural producers of Perimetral settlement, in order to subsidize the elaboration of management plan of the park. The Perimetral settlement is located in the city of Pedra Branca do Amapari, State of Amapa. The research had a qualitative approach. The data collection techniques were conducted with a sequential itinerary to the application of half-structured interviews, which 21 of the interviews were validated. The data analyses were obtained through the contents analyses including the following stages: pre-analysis, material exploration, results treatment and interpretation. The creation of Tumucumaque Park generated regrets and dissatisfaction in the settlement producers. In this research was clear that a change happened in the producers’ life, because before they were used to take benefits from nature, without inspections or prohibitions, but after the park’s creation, however, they were obligated to redirect their actions, without any kind of compensation or explanation about the importance of that creation. The producers let to show, clearly, their negative perception of the environmental management in the Tumucumaque Mountains National Park’s surrounding, and using for this swear words or outrageous sentences.
