Academic formation and professional intervention in Sports: rethinking the Brazilian Physical Education

Abstract
As an initial conjecture, we noticed that Sport is treated in the Physical Education graduation in Brazil, as a didactic resource, under a fragmented vision. We searched the curriculum of two important universities from the state of Paraná/Brazil and we were able to notice that the approaches follow and/or confirm this tendency. Starting from a bibliographical review, we chose approaches from sociologists that have studied the sport in specific moments of their academic careers. With these theories we intend to establish a dialogue and a wider and less fragmented vision of Sport. As a central hypothesis we presented that is not coherent to think in formative aspects based on a narrow interpretation, but is valid to approximate different views to comprehend the Sport phenomenon and their possibilities of professional intervention.

  1. Wanderley Marchi Júnior, Departamento de Educação Física da Universidade Federal do Paraná, Curitiba, PR
    possui graduação em Educação Física e Técnico Desportivo pela Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (1987), mestrado em Educação Física pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1994) e doutorado em Educação Física pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (2001). Atualmente é professor efetivo da Universidade Federal do Paraná. Tem experiência na área de Educação Física, com ênfase em Sociologia do Esporte, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: esporte, voleibol, educação física, sociologia do esporte e história do esporte. Atua nos programas de pós-graduação nível de mestrado e doutorado, respectivamente nos departamentos de Educação Física e de Ciências Sociais da Universidade Federal do Paraná. Coordena o grupo de pesquisa cadastrado no CNPq: Centro de Pesquisas em Esporte, Lazer e Sociedade e também o grupo de trabalho Sociologia del Deporte y Esparciamento da Associação Latinoamericana de Sociologia; é vice-presidente da Asociación Latinoamericana de Estudios Socioculturales del Deporte/ALESDE; é pesquisador do Núcleo de Estudos sobre Ciências Sociais e Sociedade no Paraná na linha de pesquisa Esporte e Cultura; e pesquisador da Rede CEDES/UFPR/Ministério dos Esportes.
