Innovation, development and physical education: the triple helix argument

Abstract
This study analyzes data from the Innovation Portal in Brazil, to understand the process of innovation in the area of physical education. It uses to the argument triple helix as theoretical framework to evaluate the synergy between university-government-industry in the field of research in physical education. The methodology is guided by the literature search and documental. The results allow inferring that area of research in physical education can be characterized as typically multidisciplinary. There are a significant number of researchers and research groups. Meanwhile, industries are not found. The non-participation of the industries indicates that physical education is far from the productive sector, which shows its inability, today, in raising funds for research with this sector and involves it in schemes that allow innovation and development projects.
