Influence of structural and lithological conditions on the fluvial dynamics of the Trancoso river basin through morphometric indices

Abstract

The study of river basins is essential to understand the organization of the drainage network in tropical coastal regions, where erosion processes and lithostructural controls influence the evolution of the relief. This work evaluates the influence of structural conditioning in the Trancoso River basin through morphometric indices and identification of lineaments, adopting a systemic approach. The results indicate that structural factors control drainage configuration and lateral channel migration. The integration of the Drainage Basin Asymmetry Factor (FABD), the Transverse Topographic Symmetry Factor (FSTT), the longitudinal profile and the hypsometric curve made it possible to identify sectors more susceptible to morphodynamic changes. It is concluded that the combination of these indicators provides a view of the basin's behavior, contributing to the understanding of regional geomorphological evolution and supporting conservation strategies for the coastal ecosystem.
